Taxi Cab

Hong Kong taxis are colour-coded according to their operating areas:

  • Urban taxis (red) operate in most areas in Hong Kong (except partial of Tung Chung Road and roads in south Lantau).

  • New Territories taxis (green) mainly operate in the north-eastern part (i.e. north of Sha Tin) and north-western part (i.e. north of Tsuen Wan) of the New Territories.

  • Lantau taxis (blue) operate only on Lantau Island and Chek Lap Kok.

 

Area Attractions

 

Kowloon City Plaza: This shopping and entertainment complex features more than a hundred shops and restaurants of all kinds.

East Tsim Sha Tsui: This major shopping, entertainment and nightlife district features a waterfront promenade that boasts one of the best panoramas of the famed Hong Kong skyline.

Nathan Road: Nathan Road's famous "Golden Mile" bustles with shoppers day and night. It is renowned for its dazzling array of brightly lit, neon-decorated shops, restaurants and nightspots.

Hau Wong Temple: This temple, built in 1730 and listed as a Grade 1 historical building, is full of cultural artefacts, including reliefs on the walls, an iron incense burner, tablets and calligraphy. The complex also includes a small garden.

Chi Lin Nunnery: This living museum of the Tang monastic style combines ancient architecture and modern technology. The nunnery welcomes visitors with its 16 Buddhist halls, zen-style rock garden, Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda and many other architectural and spiritual attractions. In constructing the buildings no nails were used, only wooden doweling and brackets.

Hong Kong Disneyland: Enjoy a magical adventure with the world’s favorite cartoon characters at Hong Kong Disneyland. Take Disney Express at MTR Sunny Bay Station to MTR Disneyland Resort Station.
